MAMC Open House to highlight machinist skills career education in South Charleston

Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center (MAMC) is hosting an open house at its South Charleston facility for individuals interested in enrolling in its career skills program in Machinist Technology/CNC.

The March 5 event is scheduled 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 100 Angus E. Peyton Drive. Prospective students, their family and friends will tour the CNC Machining Technology Lab, talk with instructors and learn about financial aid options, including West Virginia Invests. MAMC offers its machinist program in the greater Kanawha Valley in partnership with BridgeValley Community and Technical College.

MAMC also delivers machining, welding and industrial maintenance (SMART) skills education at its facilities in Huntington and Point Pleasant. Options include earning a one-year certificate, two-year degree and individual industry credentials in these in-demand industrial sectors.

“Because of the demand in these fields, all three of our skills programs are covered by West Virginia Invests (www.cfwv.com/financial-aid/wv-invests-grant), which means most qualified state residents can earn a college degree without incurring debt,” said MAMC Director Derek Scarbro.

New classes for MAMC Career Skills programs begin in August. To learn more, contact MAMC’s Jill Goheen (jill.goheen@mfg.marshall.edu, 304-781-1678), Alyssa Weber (alyssa.weber@mfg.marshall.edu, 304-781-1664) or visit www.mfg.marshall.edu/careers.
