Join the Charleston Area Alliance Tuesday, September 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Advanced Technology Center in South Charleston for Thrive.
Thrive is the Charleston Area Alliance's annual in-person crowdfunding event. Local entrepreneurs compete against one another for the crowd's votes, the winner taking home a cash prize estimated at $5,000.
How does it work?
Entrepreneurs complete an online application, and then a blind panel will select up to 10 finalists to be featured as part of the live pitch event on September 15.
Finalists develop a brief live pitch to be delivered on stage at the event. The entrepreneurs will highlight their businesses and show how the cash infusion will be used. Entrepreneurs will also set up booths to interact with attendees and answer questions in an effort to gain votes.
Where does the capital come from?
As a community member, you have the power to invest and shape the business YOU want in your community. To attend and participate in the event, community members will pay $20 (plus $1.50 processing fee) a ticket to vote for the entrepreneur or small business they want to support. Refreshments will be provided.
At the end of the night, the entrepreneur with the most votes will receive $20 times the number of attendees as cash capital to invest in their business.
The prize pool also includes seed money generously provided by our sponsors. Last year's total capital award was more than $4,600.
