About
Since June 19, 1916, the corner of Virginia Street East and Laidley has been Woodrums. Providing five decades of some of the finest home furnishings and interior decorating in the country, the Woodrums Building has been an economic asset to downtown Charleston and West Virginia.
Following years of success, a statewide economic decline shuttered ''the store'' for several years during the 1980s. However, the building was ''reinvented'' in 1995, providing over 90,000 square feet of commercial office space, becoming the regional headquarters of Acordia National, a third party payor of health care claims.
One year later, in 1996, the building was proudly admitted to The National Register of Historic Places.
Wells Fargo, T.D. Waterhouse, Hawkins and Parnell, Computer Associates have all called 602 Virginia Street East home. In 2001, Suite 101 was the 1st congressional campaign office of current U.S. Senator Shelly Moore Capito and, in 2004, it served as the West Virginia Presidential Campaign Headquarters for John Kerry.
New renovations and restorations highlight the beautiful architecture of the historic Woodrums Building, located in the heart of downtown Charleston, West Virginia.
