West Virginia American Water systems treat more than 50 million gallons of water each day, send it through 3,500 miles of water main, to reach more than 600,000 West Virginians 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; and we provide all of this at about a penny per gallon. We abide by regulations, invest in our vast infrastructure, educate our customers on wise water use, and help out where we can in our cities and towns. In West Virginia, we conduct more than 45,000 tests per year for about 100 potential contaminants, checking drinking water quality at every stage of the water treatment and delivery process.
