About Us
The Maddox Potter Foundation was created in honor of Maddox Potter, a 16 year old golfer from South Charleston, WV.
In December of 2023, Maddox was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer called Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. He endured a year of chemotherapy treatments at Cincinnati Children's, a major back surgery, multiple rounds of traditional radiation, as well as full brain and spine proton therapy.
Despite this valiant effort, Maddox's cancer continued to grow and by December of 2024, it was apparent that no other treatment would stop this disease. When he learned that the cancer would take his life, he asked his mom and dad to try and make sure that someone, somewhere, learns from his suffering.
Maddox died on January 24th, 2025, and since that day, we have been working very hard to try and keep our promise to him. The Maddox Potter Foundation was officially formed in February 2025, with the mission of financially assisting other families affected by pediatric cancer, supporting sarcoma research, and encouraging the growth of junior golf. We have raised over $120,000 since our formation and we are proud to say that we have helped numerous WV families, are supporting the upcoming golf season for several local high schools, and made a $40,000 contribution to research in July 2025 at Cincinnati Children's and also in partnership with Alex's Lemonade Stand.
It's our responsibility to make certain that Maddox's purpose lasts well beyond the 16 years he was with us.
