Name: We Love Our Community Awards 2017
Date: March 21, 2017
Time: 4:30 PM - 4:30 PM EDT
Event Description:
The Charleston Area Alliance will honor the best and the brightest in the Kanawha Valley at its annual We Love Our Community Awards at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21 at the University of Charleston Russell and Martha Wehrle Innovation Center.

Sponsored by Spilman Thomas & Battle, the awards program recognizes 13 individuals, organizations or programs that have devoted a significant amount of time, energy or resources to making a positive impact on the community.

“The We Love Our Community Awards recognizes the people and organizations who are making significant contributions to the community through their time, actions, talents and dedication,” said Susie Salisbury, the Alliance’s vice president of community development. “The honorees serve as role models for service and continually strive to make the Kanawha Valley a better place.”

Award recipients range widely, from outstanding preservation and development projects, to groundbreaking community celebrations and those making a positive impact on the quality of life of the community. The event is free to attend.

Unique to the We Love Our Community Awards program is a featured performance by a previous award winner.  Honored in 2016 for its commitment to the arts, the Charleston Light Opera Guild will present a preview of an upcoming production.

The new University of Charleston Innovation Center opened its doors in December 2016. The athletic facility houses the basketball and volleyball programs and serves as a distinctive site for fostering innovation and entrepreneurialism among students, faculty and the community.
