Event Description:
Join the Charleston Area Alliance’s Elevations professional women’s network in welcoming Dr. Susan T. Goodfellow as our guest speaker in coordination with Charleston's first Navy Week celebration. 

Susan T. Goodfellow entered the Senior Executive Service in November 2016. She is currently the senior civilian responsible for five programs directly affecting Fleet and Shore readiness for the U.S. Navy: Environmental Compliance, Environmental Readiness and Planning, Radiological Controls, Readiness Sustainment and Compatibility, and Foreign Direct Investment. She is responsible for development, promulgation, oversight and management of all policies for these programs and leads preparation of the OPNAV N45 annual budget submission. Prior to this assignment, Dr. Goodfellow served as the Deputy Director, Energy & Environmental Readiness from 2016 to 2018, and as Head, Facilities Planning and Conservation Section, at Marine Corps Installations Command/Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps, Land Use and Facilities Branch from September 2012 to November 2016.

Over her career, Dr. Goodfellow has held positions in both the public and private sectors. Before entering federal service with the U.S. Marine Corps in January 2008, Dr. Goodfellow worked in the private sector as a Program Manager for cultural resources and environmental planning. From 2002 to 2005, she served as Regional Cultural Resources Manager for the Army National Guard (ARNG), where she was responsible for all facets of the cultural resources management program for the Massachusetts ARNG and served as technical advisor for the cultural resources management programs for the Rhode Island ARNG and Connecticut ARNG. In the private sector, she has also held positions as Principal Scientist, Principal Investigator, Project Manager, Project Director, and Laboratory Director. She has also taught undergraduate-level courses in archaeology and anthropology at Cornell University, the University of Pittsburgh, and the University of Hawaii-Hilo.

Dr. Goodfellow received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Archaeology from Cornell University and a doctorate in Geo-archaeology from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a Distinguished Academic Graduate of the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, National Defense University, receiving a Master of Science degree in national resource strategy (2016).

Dr. Goodfellow’s other awards include the Superior Civilian Service Award (2019), the Meritorious Civilian Service Award (2015), the Minuteman Award for Outstanding Support and Contributions to the National Guard Bureau (2005), the Greater Boston Federal Executive Board Support Personnel Award (2003), and the National Guard Bureau Environmental Security Award, Cultural Resources Program (2003).
