DESCRIPTION:Join the Charleston Area Alliance for our next Elevations Professional Women's Network event on July 31\, 2018 featuring a panel of women leaders in West Virginia's fight against the opioid crisis. Academy Award-nominated documentary filmmaker Elaine McMillion Sheldon\, Dean of the University of Charleston's School of Pharmacy Dr. Michelle Easton\, and President and CEO of the Prestera Center for Mental Health Services Karen Yost will discuss their varied   but interconnected   work to tell West Virginia's story in this crisis\, identify real solutions\, and help people and communities recover and grow stronger. \n\n	 Elaine is the director of "Heroin(e)"   a Netflix Original Documentary short that follows three women fighting the opioid crisis in Huntington. "Heroin(e)" was nominated for a 2018 Academy Award. On June 29\, 2018\, she will release her debut feature documentary\, "Recovery Boys\," which documents the lives of four men working to transform their lives after years of addiction. \n	Michelle is the Dean of the University of Charleston's School of Pharmacy\, which has partnered with Kanawha County Schools and Kanawha Communities That Care to implement a prescription abuse prevention initiative\, "Generation Rx\," through which pharmacy students educate elementary students across Kanawha County about medication safety. \n	Karen is the President and CEO of the Prestera Center for Mental Health Services\, which helps more than 20\,000 adults\, children and families across the state each year through mental health and substance abuse care and services.
