The event runs 11 a.m.-5 p.m. followed by an optional Uncork & Create event for attendees that starts at 6 p.m. (Capacity for this activity is extremely limited.)\n\n\n\nUsing the City of Charleston's "Imagine Charleston" comprehensive plan as a launching pad for discussion\, the program will profile trailblazing women in WV history who took risks to advance their communities or businesses\; feature an interactive community development exercise\; present strategies for moving forward from the perspectives of the technology sector\, the creative class\, downtown businesses and large corporations\; and close with a powerful call to action through formal remarks and performance art.\n\n\n\nThe event opens with a luncheon\, and includes an expo where dozens of businesses and organizations that market to women will showcase their services and products. Following the Academy\, attendees may participate in a special "Uncork & Create" event\, which starts at 6 p.m.\, for an additional fee. The after-hours event includes wine and heavy hors d'oeuvres\, and will be held at\n\n1031 Quarrier Street. Separate registration is required.\n\n\n\nHistorically\, some or all of the Elevations Academy has been approved for continuing education credit. This year's agenda will be submitted for approval by the WV State Bar and WV Board of Accountancy.\n\n\n\nOpening speaker is Mary Beth Heydrick of DOW\, the company's business manufacturing technology leader.
